One Week Later

Well I don't want to leave you hanging after that last post. You'll be happy to know I've gotten better about bringing my brain home from work. The environment and coworkers are great, it's just the busy workload that is difficult to get used to. (I hate ending that sentence with a preposition, but I just don't have the energy to reword it.)

#1 question everyone wants to ask a new hire: "So what kind of music do you listen to?"

  1. And how do you answer that???
I never know what to say. I don't want to tell the truth (that I listen to whichever "hit music" station is available) because that's just not cool. The people who ask "What kind of music do you listen to?" do NOT listen to pop music. But I just don't care enough about music to put any effort into what I'm listening to. (ouch, preposition)

I LIKE music--lots of different kinds of music. If pressed to make a musical selection---because the radio isn't working or something---I listen to a Fall Out Boy, Celine Dion, or Christmas music. But again, that's not what those people want to hear. They want to hear hip, edgy names like Death Cab for Cutie or Arctic Monkey...I think. I'm not really sure if those are "cool" groups. That's how much of a musical nerd I am.

I just dodge the question. It's better for everyone.

Sorry I wrote a novella on your blog. You just brought up the one question that I always dread and never answer. :o)

  2. Edits to previous post:

*Arctic Monkeys---apparently there are several monkeys in the group, not just one.

*I am a music nerd, not a musical nerd. I aspire to be musical, but generally fail.
